A Little Prince Baby Shower

Showers especially Baby Showers are the perfect time to get really creative! Last week, my future sister-in-law, Joselyne, had her baby shower. Everything came out so adorable, I just had to share it here on my blog. Her fiance’s aunt decorated the room and did an amazing job!

The shower’s theme was a Royal Prince theme. All the little details brought so much life into the room.

Bridesmaid Proposals: How I Did Mine…

Bridesmaid proposals are the newest trend in the wedding world these days.  Brides everywhere are trying to find the cutest ways to ask their favorite girls to join them on their special day. I too, indulged in this fun tend. Given that I’ve been a bridesmaid about 7 times, I wanted to do something simple yet different than what had been done for me.   I opted for a simple scratch off card asking each of my girls to partake in a special way for my wedding day with a cute knot ring attached that customized to their unique ring sizes. Both items were purchased on Etsy.com (Ring: https://www.etsy.com/listing/125120300/rose-goldgoldsilver-knot-ring-love-knot. Card: https://www.etsy.com/listing/207730902/scratch-off-will-you-be-my-bridesmaid). Both shops have bundle deals if you need a large number like I did 🙂

If you’re a bride and you also love this trend, let me know in the comments what you did for your girls!

We’re Engaged!

Happy New Year blogger friends!
I hope that you all are making the most of 2016 so far. Remember that every day is a gift and so we must create a life that we can be proud of. The one thing I like to do on my blog every January is just reflect on the year before. 2015 was a very hard year for my family and I as we lost two beloved women but also had so many wonderful new memories. Rather than focus on what made me sad, today I will celebrate what gave me joy:

On September 26, 2015, my love of 8 years asked me to marry him! I cannot tell you the amazing feeling I had that day. Not only were we celebrating his grandmother’s 70th birthday, but now we were celebrating our forever commitment to one another.

The moment I said I do….

I have been waiting so long to start blogging our wedding planning process. We decided since we’ve been together for quite a while, we didn’t want to have a long engagement. We have chosen August of 2016!

Since September, we have booked our Venue, Photo/Video, DJ and Hotel Accommodations, with lots more to do. I will tell you that we had planned for a while to get engaged so saving money had been on our agenda since the spring of 2015 which is why we have been able to start planning right away. If you take away anything from this blog post is SAVE SAVE SAVE right away, if you are planning to get engaged!

Our save the dates went out last week, so now I can officially share all of our Save the Date/ Engagement Photos with everyone. Our friend, Mikey Rivera from M.A.R. Photography (FB) was our Photographer. He is actually a mentor to my fiancé who also does photography and Mikey, we are just in love with our photos!  Check out our favorite ones below.

We took our photos in November at a local park and just had fun with it! I wanted something effortless that showed the type of couple we are. It’s never too soon to plan your engagement photos. Do it while you’re still on cloud 9. Your photos will come out amazing and will set the tone for your whole wedding.

I can’t wait to share each week with you everything that I’ve been going through emotionally plus all the planning. I’ve been making notes from everything I’ve done so far so stay tuned!

Shakira’s Baby Shower Trend!

Congratulations to Shakira on the birth of her new little boy Sasha. First, can I just say how amazingly adorable I think his name is. I once knew a Sasha growing up even though she was a girl, I had never thought of it as a unisex name until now. I’m really digging it!

Recently, I saw a lot of different articles on Shakira’s Baby Shower and decided to do some research on it to share here with our blog friends as the newest trend is becoming such a huge hit. UNICEF Baby Shower delivers gifts to children around the world who are in need. You can either buy a gift or you can host your own shower. On Shakira’s Facebook page she urges mothers to host their own with these encouraging words “Every woman who’s expecting has the power to use the blessing of her child’s imminent birth to save the lives of other, less fortunate children around the world. If every expectant mother having a baby shower decided to include among her gift registry some of these ‘inspired gifts’ that UNICEF offers, we could collectively save the lives of hundreds of thousands of children all over the globe.”

During Shakira’s first pregnancy in 2013 for Baby Milan, UNICEF announced that
“3.8 tons of therapeutic food that saved children from severe acute malnutrition. Around 80,000 polio vaccines. 200,000 oral rehydration salt sachets. Over 1,000 insecticide-treated mosquito nets that protected children from contracting malaria. Over 150 portable scales to weigh babies and toddlers that helped with the early detection of malnutrition and illness.”-Worldbabyshower.org. HOW AMAZING!!!

Now we all know that we attend or host baby showers in order to help the parents to be financially with their own future little ones. Here is how you can incorporate the shower trend into your own baby shower:
“Wishing well” ideas were created for little gifts that don’t need to be wrapped. In place of YOUR wishing well u can ask your guests to bring a small non-wrapped gift that will be donated to UNICEF. Right now Shakira’s registry gift ideas include blankets, baby scales, soccer balls and storybooks. These are such useful ideas but you cal always add your own personality into the mix.

I think this Baby Shower Trend is an awesome idea and I love it not only makes a difference in these children’s lives but it also shows the compassion and the integrity in individuals. Blessing others by giving them something that could save their lives is beyond love!

Congrats again to Shakira and her beautiful family! We wish you many more blessings your way!

Anthropologie’s BHLDN Line

I totally love this post from msrizzy! Anthropologie has such a beautiful wedding section that not a lot of people know about. Check out my bestie’s blog with her awesome photos of the NYC location! Enjoy!

Hello loves!

A little over two weeks ago I had the opportunity to accompany a friend of mine to Anthropologie‘s Upper East Side location, where they have their BHLDN line. My friend wanted to visit the store to take a look at their wedding jewelry for her upcoming nuptials next June so I, along with another friend, basically invited ourselves to take a looksie with her! A short cab ride from The Warwick Hotel (where we all were for FFaNY set-up), we made our way to the Anthropologie store and let me tell you..

it. is. gorgeous.

The store is huge, filled with your usual fashions and accessories that Anthropologie has to offer, and as we made our way to the second level, we found the BHLDN section offering vintage inspired wedding dresses.

They also had some wedding decor sprinkled throughout, such as silver and gold mercury votives and vases, vintage…

A Baby Sprinkle + DIY Onesies

While planning my best friend’s baby sprinkle this past July, I had been asked what the difference was from a regular baby shower. There really is no significant difference other than usually when a woman is having a second or third baby the term is considered “baby sprinkle” if she already had her big baby shower previously.

My friend Roselyn’s daughter was born about 5 years ago and I wanted to throw her something small to celebrate. She’s also having a boy this time so I wanted to ensure she would receive her basic necessities.

Due to having a lot of expenses this year, I kept it simple but cute. One of our other friend’s offered her home as our venue. We decorated with some balloons and garland. I catered food from a local deli and Italian restaurant.

For entertainment I opted out of games and gave everyone a “onesie” to decorate. I saw this activity on Pinterest and thought it looked really fun! Everyone had a great time creating the perfect onesie.
Materials used were: Carter cotton onesies (Walmart/Target) pre-washed, individual fabrics (walmart has different patterns 97 cents each), fabric glue, buttons, stencils and sharpies! All my supplies including each onesie came to a little under $100.

Check out some of the awesome onesies that were created (click on the picture for a larger view):

Roselyn received so many wonderful gifts for baby Sammy. Thank you to all the friends and family that came to “sprinkle Roselyn with love!”
