Hello my friends! Today, I’m sharing with you a DIY banner that I made for my photographer friend, Jamilie, at ‘Jamilie Costa Photography!’ Jamilie recently did a cake smash session for her beautiful goddaughter and I was happily honored to recreate an adorable banner for her and bring her vision to life!
Most of you who follow my blog know that I’ve done a few so far. This one was one of my favorites, because of course, it had a cupcake in the middle. 🙂
If you would like to recreate this banner here is what you will need:
Tan color card stock paper (Acmoore 33cents each) I bought 3.
White, Yellow, Black and Pink card stock paper. I used left over paper that I had, but you’ll only need one of each
Glue Gun & Glue
Brown string or ribbon (I bought string for about $2 at Acmoore)
I made a 4.5 x 2.5 square on my computer, traced it on the tan card stock paper and cut out six squares. I then cut an imperfect triangle out the bottom on each square. To create my letters: I drew them free hand on the white card stock paper. You can use your computer for this too; however, I tried that, but I couldn’t get the letters big enough the way I wanted them. You can also buy the sticker letters if you prefer.
To create the cupcake: I traced a picture of a cupcake onto the pink card stock paper to get the shape I wanted and just added black paper to the bottom for the cupcake liner. I then glued all my letters and cupcake on. I placed a small amount of glue between the pink and black paper and tapped some sprinkles on for a 3D look. I sprayed some hairspray onto the sprinkles to keep them from falling off and I let everything dry overnight.
To add the string: hole punch all the corners and place string in and out the holes. Remember to tie the ends a few times so it doesn’t come apart.
Jamilie was nice enough to let me share with you some photos from her cake smash photo shoot! You can check out more of Jamilie’s work over at http://www.jamillecostaphotography.com.
